Evolution takes a huge amount of dedication to run an event of this magnitude. EVO typically attracts between 1000 and 1500 people.  The EVO team has been running the top American fighting game tournaments in some form for over a decade, and 2005 will be EVO's 7th year. 

Players from over 30 different countries attended EVO2K4, including the world's greatest fighting game champions. 

EVO's street credibility is unmatched by any event in the world.  Winning an EVO doesn't mean that Best Buy holds a raffle and has the winners play for some faked corporate "championship."  EVO is a players tournament that pits the hardest of the hardcore against each other on the best titles. 

No group has deeper roots than EVO, and it shows in every aspect of the event.
